I watched this show at a friend's house recently and a few things stood out to me (D3 Gold).
One of the teen moms put her baby up for adoption and the agency met with her and the father when the baby was 18 months old to give them pictures. Does this EVER happen in real life? Seemed very odd to me, I'm thinking this is no more similar to real life than the big mac on tv to what you can get down the street.
The adoption agency was also still helping to regulate the relationship between the biological family, including the grandparents, and the adopters. I was a little high when I watched it but I was confused, looks like grandma contacted the adopters without first checking with their kids. I don't have family myself but never really thought about an adoption being that open with the whole family. Does anyone have anything like that?
The saddest part was the relinquishing grandparents and birthparents were buying tons of presants for the kid. The grandfather expressed regret that he hadn't bought anything for his grandkid before as they got her a bunch of plastic corporate crap that looked rather expensive (D3 Gold). I don't think they could afford it and crap doesn't make the kind of connection they wanted.
I don't think this family was in the 1 percent not interested in parenting and grandparenting and its really sad to seel their palpable greif in all this. Its clear grandma regrets this. I hope these kids make the most of the head start they may have gotten from surrendering.
