I have read that sleep along with drinking enough water is the key (Diablo 3 Gold), although I got plenty of both during my recent bout with bronchitis, and it still dragged on for a couple week.
Like you, I have not had a 'cold' for many years, never had either the flu shot or the flu. However, after much debate, my doctor convinced me to get one last week, saying that due to the bronchitis my immunity is low, that this year's flu is predicted to be especially strong and he is seeing it already.
I figure that since I got such an awful cold/bronchitis when I normally don't even have a sniffle all winter, maybe that means either my immunity is especially weak right now, or the strains of miseries going around are especially strong, either way leaving me susceptible to the dreaded flu. Hoping the shot will have no ill effects and will at least offer some protection.
Then today I wake up again with sneezing/sniffles.
Anyways hope you feel better soon and have better luck. The coughing thing is confusing to treat (Diablo 3 Gold). I say an expectorant is needed to break up mucous, my doctor says no no it needs a supressant, gave me promethazine dm plus a week on amoxicillin. Being terrified of prescription drugs, but not wanting to choke to death, I did take both as prescribed and the coughing fits did stop, but now am gulping yogurt and probiotics to try to ward off c diff.
Have not had anything like this for over 20 years...guess it's my turn.
Anyways, hope you feel better and do go to the doctor before it develops into a bronchial infection.
